Local Celebrities Help Support Inner City Catholic Schools

Jacksonville, Fla. – As our nation’s high school graduation rates steadily decline, many children are “left behind.” That’s not the case with two inner city schools in Jacksonville under the arm of Guardian Catholic Schools of the Diocese of St. Augustine.

To help ensure these students receive a quality, Christ-centered education, Guardian Catholic Schools is hosting their 8th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic fundraiser, March 24-26, at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

This year’s honorary chair is Josh Scobee, Jacksonville Jaguar kicker. Joining him will be other Jaguar players, current and retired, as well as The Roar cheerleaders. The Golf & Tennis Classic will begin with an opening ceremony from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 24. On Sunday, March 25, the tennis tournament will go from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the final portion ending on March 26. The golf tournament will start on March 26 with registration at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

This event will help provide academic scholarships to needy children who want to attend Holy Rosary and St. Pius V Catholic schools in Jacksonville. To play in the tennis tournament, the cost per tennis team is $200, and for an individual golfer, the cost is $300.

Founded in 1995, Guardian Catholic School’s mission is to participate in God’s work by providing advocacy, resources and governance for St. Pius V and Holy Rosary Catholic schools. These resources enable the schools to provide quality educational opportunities to children and families regardless of their financial situation or religious preference.

“Help us put faith in a child’s education by supporting Guardian Catholic Schools, where traditional values and affordable education is the future,” said Shariffa Spicer, executive director of Guardian Catholic Schools.
