Bishop Felipe J. Estévez Celebrates Red Mass, Oct. 25
October 15, 2012 • Diocese of St. Augustine

Jacksonville, Fla. – Bishop Felipe J. Estévez of the Diocese of St. Augustine will celebrate the Red Mass on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 131 East Duval Street in downtown Jacksonville. The Mass begins at 5:30 p.m.

The Red Mass is an adaptation of the Catholic Church’s age-old expression of dependence on God to the peculiar needs and institutions of the Courts and the Law. The Mass celebrated in the Diocese of St. Augustine is for members of the judicial, legal and law enforcement communities to gather to invoke the Holy Spirit on the justice system. The public is invited to attend.

Each year, the Catholic Lawyers Guild hosts the Mass and presents the annual Law & Spirituality Award. This year, the recipient of the award is Deacon Paul Consbruck, Esq., who is a member of the Florida and Maryland Bars for more than 22 years. Deacon Consbruck has worked in both private practice and government service. Since September 2005, he has successfully represented more than 700 families in Florida handling re-adoption, recognition of foreign adoption, international adoptions, domestic adoptions, wills, trusts and guardianships. He is also ordained to the permanent diaconate and serves at San José Parish in Jacksonville.

A reception will follow Mass in the courtyard of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. For more Information, call Mike Bittner; chair the Red Mass for the Catholic Lawyers Guild.
