Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be honored at Interfaith Prayer Service
Jacksonville, Fla. – Members of the interfaith community of Jacksonville will gather Sunday, Jan. 13, to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The program begins with a performance by the Edward Waters College Concert Choir at 2:30 p.m., followed by the prayer service at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11757 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville.
This year’s prayer service will feature young people and representatives from Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Muslim faith communities providing reflections on some of the principles Dr. King believed in so strongly. Stephanie Jones from St. Joseph Academy and David Barr from Bishop Kenny High School will be among the young people giving reflections and Bishop Felipe J. Estévez of the Diocese of St. Augustine will provide the opening and closing remarks.
The Black Catholic Commission of the Diocese of St. Augustine is hosting the third annual prayer service and the reception afterwards. The public is encouraged to attend.
