February 24, 2014 • Diocese of St. Augustine

Jacksonville, Fla. – Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, is hosting an informational presentation on ways to identify the second most criminal activity in the world – human trafficking, on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at the church, 545 A1A North.

A serious crime and a violation of human rights, human trafficking occurs when a group of people force women, men and or children into labor or sexual exploitation. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, both in the U.S. and in their own countries.

Florida ranks third in the U.S. for this fast-growing crime also known as modern-day slavery. This is a problem in every area of the world.

Presenters will offer tips for identifying signs, ways to help, how to stop human trafficking as well as other information.
