Jacksonville, Fla. – For the past 36 years, the Diocese of St. Augustine’s Council of Catholic Women has coordinated the Camp I Am Special Fashion Show. Each year, Campers and Buddies model summer fashions from local retail partners such as Sears and Roz & Ali, strutting their stuff on the runway. Not only does this event warm the hearts of many, but it is an opportunity to support the Jacksonville Regional Office of Catholic Charities and their mission to transform lives.

This year’s fashion show is Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd., with doors opening at 11 a.m. Lunch is at noon with the show beginning at 12:45 p.m.

Camp I Am Special itself exists to promote the health and quality of life for people with disabilities, to provide a break for their families, and to offer a meaningful volunteer experience for high school students.

Throughout their lives, campers have been hindered from enjoying regular summertime activities. However, at Camp I Am Special, the impossible has been made possible. Campers can enjoy horseback riding, fishing, swimming and so much more under the care of our certified staff members and trained high school buddies. The program includes seven, six-day overnight summer sessions, a weekend mini-camp and three Saturday sessions that will serve more than 300 children and adults over the next 12 months. Activities are coordinated around a theme each year. This summer, an ’80’s theme will provide a background for the fun.
