St. Augustine, Fla. – World Youth Day (WYD) is an international encounter with the Holy Father celebrated every three years in a different country. The massive celebration for young people between the ages of 15 and 35 began in 1985 by Pope John Paul II and continues to be a worldwide tradition with thousands of young people.

This year, WYD is Jan. 22-27 in Panamá City, Panamá. For those young people unable to travel to Panamá, the Diocese of St. Augustine is hosting a WYD Stateside event on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios, 101 San Marco Blvd. in St. Augustine.

The celebration is from 2 to 5 p.m. and will include a keynote address by Joel Stepanek of Life Teen International, a concert with Epic the Band, video from WYD in Panamá will be live-streamed and there will be Mass celebrated by Father Richard Pagano at the Rustic Altar.

All youth between the ages of 15 and 35 are invited to attend. There is no cost.
