Jacksonville, Fla. – The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the Diocese of St. Augustine is hosting two special events for teens in February: MPact and the Annual Diocesan Youth Conference.

MPact is a new service program for teens in junior high school. It will be Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd., in Jacksonville.

“The importance of sharing our time, talent and treasure with organizations that serve the community will be emphasized,” said Robin Shipley, director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the diocese.

Some of the organizations the teens will serve during the MPact program include Clay County’s Clothes Closet, which provides emergency food assistance and clothing; Hope Therapy, a non-profit equine therapy program in Middleburg, L’Arche Harbor House, a Jacksonville community for people with intellectual and physical disabilities and others.

The teens will not only provide their time and talents in service to local organizations, but they will learn more about the organization’s mission, value to the community, and the clients they serve.

All teens in junior high school are invited to participate. To learn more, email Robin Shipley at rshipley@dosafl.com or call (904) 262-3200, ext. 189.

The fourth annual Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC) is Friday, Feb. 22-24 at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs. The theme is “Made for More.” Hundreds of high school students from the Northeast and North Central region of Florida will participate.

Students have been invited to energize and revitalize their faith with music, games, skits, prayer, sports, small groups and more. The keynote speaker is Joe Melendez, a Los Angeles-based professional retreat leader, religion teacher, and Catholic Hip-Hop artist.

Cost is $125. To learn more about DYC, email Robin Shipley at rshipley@dosafl.com or call (904) 262-3200, ext. 189.
