St. Francis Catholic Academy’s Souper Fun Sunday

Gainesville, Fla. – Don’t miss an opportunity to taste some of Gainesville’s great soups from area chefs and restaurants as part of the 12th Annual Souper Fun Sunday event on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., at St. Francis Catholic Academy, 4100 NW 115th Terrace in Gainesville. Proceeds of the event will help support technology enhancement and professional development at the school.

Taste and judge soups from 30 different local restaurants and caterers.

Participating restaurants and chefs include: Chef Ami, Zoe’s Kitchen, Pomodoro Café, Limerock Road, Cracker Barrel, Gator’s Dockside, Mi Apá Latin Café, Oak Hammock at UF, The Gelato Company, Wahoo Seafood Grill, Fresco Pizza and Pasta, Northwest Seafood, Inc., Gators Den Sports Grill, Great Outdoors Restaurant, Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille, Backstreet Blues Chophouse, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, the Flour Pot Café & Bakery, Taste Omi’s Elegant Catering and Chef Brothers Custom Catering.

St. Francis Catholic Academy is a high school, grades 9-12, serving all students regardless of religion. Here are a few statistics about the school:

  • For the fifth year in a row, SFCA students’ ACT scores exceeded the state and national averages in composite score, as well as in “college ready” benchmarks for English, Math, Reading, Science, and Stem, and all four core college readiness benchmarks combined.
  • The 2018 Total SAT mean score was 1206; the top 10% of tests taken scored from 1410 to 1500.
  • 79% of SFCA seniors in the Class of 2018 who applied to UF were accepted during a year when the University of Florida only accepted 36% of all freshman applications.
  • Members of the Classes of 2016, 2017, and 2018 have been accepted to TOP 50 colleges and universities, including the University of Virginia, UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Miami, UF, Emory University, and MIT.
