Annual Fashion Show Supports Camp I Am Special

Jacksonville, Fla. – Camp I Am Special’s annual fashion show is Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd.

For the past 37 years, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women has coordinated the Catholic Charities’ Camp I Am Special Fashion Show, where campers and their buddies walk the runway, modeling summer fashions from local retailers.

With help from generous donors and the local community, Catholic Charities’ Camp I Am Special – an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited facility – continues to foster and celebrate the quality of life for
children, teenagers and adults with intellectual and developmental differences.

While those with different abilities may have limited opportunities to grow in independence, Camp I Am Special Campers can choose to participate in numerous daily activities that allow them to take risks, stretch their
abilities and enjoy the company of others. Some of those activities include, hay rides, crafts, adaptive sports and yoga and spending time with friends at The Rotary Club of Deerwood Abigail’s Joy Camp I Am Special Aquatic Center.

Camp I Am Special also offers a meaningful volunteer experience and leadership skill development for high-school and college students.

Tickets for the fashion show are $15 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. To purchase ahead of time, visit the Camp office at Marywood or call (904) 230-7447. For more information about donating to the show or volunteering, call DCCW Fashion Show Chairman, Debra Capley, at (904) 891-0181. For more information about Camp I Am Special, visit www.ccbjax.org.
